No Deposit, No Return

I went over to feed the ducks the other day and there was a young girl there with her mother and little brother. When the girl saw what I was doing (and how all the ducks headed over to me) she wanted to check it out. I asked her if she wanted to help me feed them and she was all for it.

She walked over to me and I noticed she had some feathers in her hand. She gave me one before we started tossing the bread.

When the bread was gone, I asked her if she would like her feather back. She said yes, I handed it to her, and then she began chasing the ducks while holding out the feather.

Her mother told me she had been trying to give the feathers back earlier and apparently she was still determined to do so. The ducks weren't having any part of it.

The moral of the story had to be that some gifts are just plain non-returnable.

Cute story indeed...and also very fitting...the whole scenario. Look up Duck totem (and energy). I've had two mamma ducks come into my life...both at very specific times so I know it was not unintentional. Very cool indeed.
