Trying To Fill In The Blank

After being able to spend 5 days together, Bassman had to leave to go back out on the road. As is typical in such a case, it has left me maudlin. With a side order of preachy. And you, lucky readers, will benefit (?) from it.

Today on the Liberty blog (see link in photo on sidebar), Average Girl left me the most wonderful comment. She said, "You inspired me to open a separate blog just for photos."

Wow. It is a super feeling to hear that you have inspired someone. I suppose I could have felt threatened by the competition but I didn't. Instead I was happy that I excited someone else to try something I enjoy.

Average Girl didn't need to go through the hassle of posting a comment (2 comments actually) but she did it anyway. Why did she do it? I don't know for sure but I think it was because she was being kind. And as my father-in-law used to say, "Kindness counts."

So let's all follow her example today and do something nice for someone. Snail mail a postcard to a friend you haven't spoken with in awhile. Compliment a coworker. Leave a comment on someone's blog. It doesn't need to take a lot of effort, it just needs to be sincere. I guarantee it will make you smile.

End of sermon.
