It finally warmed up enough that the hose and faucet thawed out. This was great news since I was incredibly tired of hauling water one gallon container at a time.
Between the loose hay and the errant horse apple, the trough desperately needed a clean out. Yay.
I dumped the water, ice, and offal, rinsed everything off, and began refilling. By that time the horses wandered up to see what was going on.
As I petted Vivid, Cruella's jealousy kicked in and she came over to demand some attention too. C dog got close enough that Vivid could reach her. Vivid arched her neck over the fence, brought her head down over Cruella and began licking. Cruella stood there and let it all happen.
I have the weirdest animals.

I left a similar comment on Debbie of the UK with all the mini shetland ponies blog.. but this brings back memories of winter in the barn for me. I remembered I used to fill up old milk jugs with warm water and carry them into to the barn to deal with the icy buckets for my ponies..
Looks like Vivid is a youngster? Anyway, isn't it nice when they can all get along. Silly C Dog.
Vivid will be 2 May 13th. She is half paso/half mutt.
She's a cutie! Can you register a half Paso Fino half Mutt I wonder? ;)
I'm waiting to see if she is gaited.
