I was laying (lying? laid? supine?) in bed this morning dreading leaving the sanctuary of the toasty covers for the cold morning air that was undoubtedly waiting for me, attempting to convince myself it was time to get up.

"But it's too cold," the old brain screamed.

Perhaps true, yet...

"And I'm too tired."

No, you just had 9 hours of sleep and you couldn't possibly still be tired.

"There's still too much work to get done putting the holiday decorations away. I don't know where to begin. It's too much for me to contemplate at this early hour (9 a.m.)."

And that's when it hit me. Too. Too much, too little, too hard, too easy, too late. The ultimate word in the kingdom of rationalizations. Hunh.

So (another overused word but work with me here, people), I have decided to attempt to rein in my dependency and remove the word from my internal vocabulary. My belated New Year's Resolution.

Wish me luck.

Oh, I do wish you luck!

I managed to de-decorate today. It seems like only yesterday we were talking about decorating!

Laying in bed, but it could be lying?

Anyway, that's going to be a tough resolution to follow through with. It's so darn cold, and I feel so darn old!

Yet you're so much younger than I!

Too much-want to stay in bed. Sounds familiar.
