Laundry
Since the humidity out here is about 2% and the electric bill is over $200, I thought an outdoor 'clothes dryer' might be a good idea. Yesterday was its maiden voyage.
We had one of these as a kid and I swear it was 15' tall at least. Now perhaps it's because I am a bit taller these days then I was at the age of 5 but I still think they shrunk the darn thing. The jeans were barely off the ground! Still, the new one was tall enough to serve its purpose.
There was a slight breeze and they did get mostly dry (they had to spend 20 minutes in the dryer. As opposed to 2 hours) so I am not going to complain. About that.
What I am going to complain about is the pitbull that showed up during my laundry session. I tried to scare him off but he just gave me one of those 'whatever' looks which was the point when I came to my senses and decided inside the house would probably be a better choice for me.
I called the dog catcher and about an hour later she called me to say she had found the owner. I told her how frightening it was and asked if this town had a leash law. At which point she got a bit frosty and told me the owner would get a warning now and a citation next time.
When I am in the country, I deal with dogs. Kentucky will let you shoot them if they are threatening (don't panic, I haven't done that yet). Somehow I don't think that would go over too well here. Besides, who wants to hang their laundry while they are wearing a side iron?
Not me. With my clumsiness, I would wind up with the holiest foot this side of the Rockies!
